Health Education Advocacy LEADERSHIP, INC.

As a non-profit organization we bring people together in an effort to eliminate health disparities and inequities through advocacy, awareness, education, leadership, and cultural responsive services. To this end, Health Education Advocacy Leadership (HEAL), Inc. implements programs to address pressing public health needs, fosters private sector support for health promoting activities, access to healthcare, and assist communities build the capacity to empower, promote health, and research translation that leads to action that addresses and advocates for the need of the population. One of the primary responsibility of HEAL will be to promote an asset approach to health by tapping into the skills and experiences of individuals, community members, and local organizations in order to mobilize community health decision-making and action. Further, HEAL will achieve its mission by linking the formal health system with the informal health system through consultations and close collaborations with partnering academic agencies, non-profit organizations, local businesses, and the community.

HEAL's  purpose is to provide accessible, accountable, coordinated and comprehensive primary health care services to the medically under-served and underrepresented population including:

(i) assisting residents in accessing existing health care services including medical, behavioral, pharmaceutical, dental, health promotion, diseases prevention, and economic services by linking the formal health system with the informal health system;

(ii)encouraging coordination of all health-related providers in the community to improve their availability and effectiveness and to work toward eliminating health care disparities;

(iii) reducing the economic burden of health care for low-income, under-served, under-insured, and uninsured residents in the community.

4th Annual National University Holiday Cheer Event

As the holiday close near, National University in collaboration with community-based partners will be providing a holiday season to remember to 5 deserving families. Thanks to the National University’s Dean of School of Health and Human Services (Dr. McNeal), Student Nurse Association, Community Health Students, and the Community Engagement Core, lead by Dr. Ritika Bhawal. This event has become a major part of National University annual tradition of giving back to the community.

Through our collaboration and community engagement efforts, HEAL Community Health Promotion Center (HCHPC) offer comprehensive, integrated and inter-professional collaborative practice health care, health education, and social services in order to assist individuals, families, and the community achieve positive health outcome that leads to quality of life.

The Movement Begins with Health Promotion & Education

Given that good health is an outcome of various positive life circumstances, there is a need for the application of interventions that target increasing resources that will promote quality of life. HEAL provides primary care, preventive care, health training, health education, and access to health promoting activities and resources.

HEAL focuses on health promotion, disease preventive services, access to quality and culturally responsive healthcare, nutrition education, physical fitness, social support, advocacy, and networking.
